Loreto Bay and Nopolo:
This spectacular setting about 5 miles south of Loreto, including a natural protected anchorage on an estuary, with surrounding rocky promontories and the Gigantas as a backdrop, was a natural target for development. FONATUR (the Mexican tourism/development agency) built infrastructure and a hotel and a 18 hole championship golf course with dramatic vistas. There are lots and homes through out Nopolo and the Loreto Bay Company began building the Villages at Loreto Bay project in the early 2000’s, with a healthy living in a resort type of lifestyle. After a halt caused by the US market meltdown, the Loreto Bay project is once again thriving and is a community of like minded outdoor enthusiasts.
The Village of Loreto Bay and Nopolo resemble nothing you have seen some time recently. Housing is being developed with no space between the properties, similar to condominiums in the USA. Stone walkways with delightful lavish vegetation might even remind you of a little European town where everybody has lived for a considerable length of time. Each have a few levels of living space with multiple open air living space and facilities, to appreciate the excellent climate of the area.
