Puerto Escondido: from the Loreto beaches and malecon you can see four islands called (north to south) Coronado, Carmen, Juncalito and Danzante, beckoning you to get in a boat and come visit. Anchor (get a permit first!) at one of the dozens of small sandy coves to enjoy solitude like you’ve never felt before. While you are boating, drop in about 15 miles south of Loreto to the spectacular natural harbor at Puerto Escondido. It offers protected anchorages and limited short-term docking, fuel and basic (very basic) services. It has to be one of the most beautiful natural harbors in Mexico. There is a small community there, with a store, the small hotel Tripui, and a lot of friendliness. The islands of Montserrat, Catalina and Santa Cruz lie farther to the south but are still within easy cruising range.
